Bio

Allan R. Tate provides strategic vision and leadership for Digital Enterprises. He is an independent consultant for organizations looking to thrive in the digital economy. Leveraging extensive knowledge of business development, organizational change, software development and data analytics, he works with clients transform a digital product vision into a successful deployment.

An accomplished leader with over 20 years of experience in digital technology consulting and development, Allan has worked as an IT Architect, IT Specialist, Software Developer and Automation Researcher. In addition to technical roles, he has engaged with CIOs and CTOs while managing sales of integrated technology services, including strategy and architecture, cloud, mobile, communications and cybersecurity for one of IBM’s business units in New England.

As part of his consulting practice, Allan remains engaged with business and technical communities. He is on the organizing team of the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium, is a judge for the MIT IDE Inclusive Innovation Challenge, and is a member of the MIT Enterprise Forum and the Boston Entrepreneurs’ Network.

Allan received a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University. His areas of focus were system dynamics, controls, and robotics. He was a research fellow at The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, where he completed his master’s thesis. Most recently, he earned a Data Science Certificate from the Microsoft Professional Program. Allan and his wife have three children and live in Bedford, Massachusetts.
