In past years Andrew McAfee’s keynotes have been pro technology: technology is critical for a high growth economy in the second machine age; technology is a great enabler of businesses that use machine, platform, and crowd; and technology will enable more jobs than it will take away. But the subject of the impact of technology on the environment is new territory. Are we paying a price for these benefits by harming the planet? Or is there a case for remaining pro technology?
